Taiwanese studio ESC Taiwan has announced the imminent release of the digital version of the board game Reversed Front. The title will be available on PC and mobile devices, but when exactly is unclear. First, the developers will run a Kickstarter campaign, which starts on December 12th.
The plot of Reversed Front is dedicated to the confrontation between the Chinese Red Army and the “enslaved peoples” who dream of being freed. The player can take control of the leader of one of the revolutionary factions and try to destroy China from the inside, weakening it, creating revolutionary cells and arranging riots. Or take the side of the Red Army and crush the resistance.
A separate party to the conflict is Taiwan itself, which the developers consider to be a powerful maritime power capable of influencing politics on the continent. The game will end if the rebels manage to organize 14 active cells, or if China captures Taiwan.
The backstory of Reversed Front is the “Seventy Years’ War” during which the communists took over Manchuria, China, South Mongolia, East Turkestan and Tibet over a period of seventy years to build a giant “Republic”.
After that, the communist conquerors selflessly suppress the uprisings raised by the peoples of the occupied countries. At the same time, they are waging a long-term hybrid war against Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, the Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, parts of India and Central Asia to expand their sphere of influence.
There will be 9 factions in Reversed Front: Hong Kong, Tibet, Uighurs, Kazakhs, Mongolia, Manchuria, Taiwan, Chinese rebels and China itself.
